Pricing
How pricing works
A replacement is priced to the house, not to a catalog. This page names what moves the number. Your written quote carries the amounts.
What decides the price
These are the things that change the number from one house to the next.
Tonnage, from the load calculation
Efficiency tier, and one-stage or variable-speed equipment
Duct condition and any changes to the ducts
Electrical work and the city permit
Removal of the old equipment
Access: attic, closet or roof
What the written quote includes, and what it doesn't
The quote lists the scope line by line, the equipment by model, the permit, the haul-away of the old system, the warranty terms and how long the quote holds.
Not included unless it is listed: duct replacement, an electrical panel upgrade, repairs to the house
If we find something outside the scope, we show it to you and quote it separately before any work
What happens at the visit
An advisor walks the house, measures, looks at the attic and the ducts and asks how you live in the house. When you book, we tell you whether the visit has a fee and whether it is credited toward the work.
Rooms, windows and insulation are measured
Ducts, electrical and the old equipment are looked at
You say what bothers you about the system you have
After hours
We replace and install; we are not an overnight repair line. Replacements are scheduled in business hours, so there is no after-hours rate to quote. Messages left at night are returned the next business morning.
When you get the number
In writing, after the home visit and before any work starts. If the scope changes, you see a changed quote and agree to it first.
Questions
About the quote
Will I get a price over the phone?
No. A replacement depends on the house, so the number comes in writing after the home visit. We can tell you on the phone what the visit involves.
Can I compare your quote with another company's?
Yes, and the line-by-line scope is built for that. Put the lines side by side and ask each company what is missing.
How long does the quote hold?
The date it ends is printed on the quote.
